Upper Ohio Valley Baptist Association
God is moving among and through the churches of our association.
All glory, praise and recognition are given to Him for what He is doing.
During the past year He has moved our churches to continue to witness
of His love for us and to tell others about His sacrifice of His Son for
our sins. As a result, 167 people made professions of faith in Him, the
second highest number of baptisms in the state, second only to the largest
association in the state. Three of the five churches in the state with
the highest number of baptisms are in our association. The Scripture teaches
He draws all men to Himself.
He has also moved the pastor of a fast growing church in Florida to partner
with us to help us to do more than we could in reaching the lost. As a
result Jeff Buchanan and 72 members of the Eagle Lake Baptist Church came
to lead Temple Baptist Church in setting up booths at the Marshal County
Fair to give away water, Bibles, tied balloons and the gospel of Jesus
where 26 professions of faith were made and the Florida team also lead
in giving a block party to Wheeling where hot dogs, hamburgers, soft drinks,
snacks, tracks, Bibles, and the gospel of Jesus was given and 50 people
prayed to receive Jesus. God led this church to spend an estimated $20,000.00
“to come over and help us”! This resulted in the Wheeling
Community Church being started in north Wheeling where a 66 year old man
was the first to give his heart to the Lord and follow Him in the waters
of baptism as a result of the church services. The Lord has also led a
local couple to commit $20,000.00 plus dollars to establishing this church.
Pray for God to send a pastor to lead this new church.
The Lord has also led a church in Wahalla, SC to form a partnership with
us and to come last summer to essentially complete the building of the
Friendly Baptist Church in Friendly, WV and to help us to prayer drive
and pray over 300 households within a five mile radius of Wileyville,
WV. Pray for a church planter to come there to start a church soon.
God has also moved the Flat Rock Baptist Church of Liberty, SC to come
and give a block party to East Liverpool and help Avondale Baptist Church
to reach their town for the Lord Jesus. As a result 44 people prayed to
receive Jesus and a fresh spirit of excitement was breathed into the church
and pastor. They also went and provided a block party for the Maryland
Heights Community Church and their neighborhood.
The Lord also led the Cambridge Baptist Church to come from Cambridge,
Kansas to come to provide Vacation Bible School for First Baptist Church
of Chester and to reroof their church building. Having finished the roof
in three days, they then went to Evangel Baptist Church and replaced 19
vanity windows in their basement with glass blocks and painted some of
their basements outside walls with Drylock to stop moisture from entering
the building through these walls.
The replacement of these windows completed the project of Evangel Baptist
Church which was placed on their hearts by the Lord to make their building
more energy efficient. The Lord started with a very small congregation
with no money and provided the money and help to completely remodel the
outside of their building while making it more energy efficient. The Abundant
Life Baptist Church of Triadelphia, WV replaced the roof that was leaking
around the chimney, the Upper Ohio Valley Baptist Association replaced
the single pane windows with energy saving windows and the West Sumpter
Baptist Church from outside Sumter, SC insulated the walls and installed
new doors and vinyl siding on the outside of the entire building. At the
completion of this project, the church had about $3,000.00 left which
was used in part to install new gutters because the old gutters had been
“destroyed” in removal. God blessed this church tremendously!
Then the Lord sent a small team of three from Tennessee to Calvary Baptist
Church to help them replace their roof.
The Lord led the Upper Ohio Valley Baptist Association to the Fleming
Island Baptist Church in Florida to prime and paint the entire inside
of a full size gymnasium family life center in February of 2008 and in
August of 2008 to Alaska to work on two church buildings.
The Lord has provided $_____________ through Ola Cox to help our association
do that which He has called us to do. And though the above are some of
the major movements of God in our association there are numerous day to
day activities that may not amount to a lot in themselves, but are important
as acts of obedience in accomplishing God’s will.
